> Art Vandalay <

It's Sunday afternoon, 5pm about to go for a run. Have done 4 miles the last 2 days, made it in 31 minutes yesterday, suprising since I haven't worked out in a month with being on tour for so long... Have had 2 quadspressos so far, am hungover from last night, still - and working my way thru Seinfelt series 4. Just watched the one where they go to LA and Kramer gets arrested for being a serial kiLLeR. Somehow I watched the whole Sopranos series 5 DVD box set since I got back from America. Kappishhh. Feeling rather bored lately, maybe just tired from touring so much last few months, dunno. Anywayzzzz.

Went out in Maidenhead last night with Martin/Styles/Nicky - ended up pretty drunken and at Mr. Cod. A good night, but not particularly eventful, just had a few drinks - didn't see any fights or anything, rare for Maidenhead on a Saturday night. Everyone came back and we watched Highlights of 'Coming to America' and 'TeenwolF'. Big brother is crap at the moment, I hope they do somethign to sort it outt a bit.

Am halfway thru a bunch of remixes at the moment, gona try to get some actually finished tonight. I got a CD off the promoter in Arnhem with a really good remix of Donna Summer's "I feel love" - im reworking it a bit so its superduper and is definitely gona be a good one for playing out.

OH, my new BBQ arrived on Friday - and then it started raining. I havent used it yet - but put it together in record time. I got an outback 300 baybeee - full on gas bizniz with side burner and stuff. Quality. I think I've hexed the weather though, typical, i have a whole week at home, no major commitments, would be perfect for some sunbathing and BBQing 4 breakfast, and its grizzzzly grey. blah.

oh, went to oxford on friday, Mattrick and Linus were Djing at the Cellar - launch party for their new label. Styles ate a Burger the size of his head that cost £4.50. Should have been a filet mignon burger for that. Steve got harrassed by the bouncer when he came to get us in, the bouncer practically threw him down the stairs... I caught it on camera though. hah. OH, i DID get some ace stuff ordered on ebay though, some luminous pink and green ties, a Michael jackson "Bad" logo shirt, some black liquid eyeliner, erm - FIFA for my PSP.

Anyway, jsut thought I'd do an entry, I don't have anything really interesting to report - just thought I'd let you konw I was still alive. Ok, time to go joG around Bray a bit. Oh, I've almost finished editing the video from the US tour, will have it up later tonight hopefully.

> Nine Inch Nails Last Night <

Went to see Nine Inch Nails at Brixton Acadamy last night. Was very good indeed. Lighting was mental, really reaaaaally bright. Did a good mix of old tracks and new ones - finished with Head Like a Hole I think - but I was expecting them to do Heresy, but alas no... Guitarist was smashign stuff up all over and did some balancing trick on the amp. Trent was on form of course, had a nice waistcoat on. Throwing a lot of water about, suprising with all the electriX about on stage. Anyway, yeah it was wikkid - shame I have to wear my earplugs at things like this though, kinda calms it down a bit much - the sound was great in there, really loud but mega-clear too - just I don't wanna go deaFF...

Tried to go to Electric Dreams at Metro after, but it wasn't on so went to Trash instead, but had to leave a bit early, at 1 to get the train home. Some really good music in there too, I'm really into the dance/rock crossovery stuff at the moment, think I'm gona buy a guitar today. Dannnaa nanna naannna.

Got OZ series 5 in the post yesteday, so have seamlessly moved on from one HBO DVD to the next. Already been 2 shankings today.

Here's picturez:

My gay thumb. Painted with nail polish the other day, and it seemed to be very prominant all day, at the post office, bank, tescos - every time I handed somethign over my gay thumb was showing itself. ThumBthumBthUmb.

Just been to The Crown in Bray for a quick glass of wine with Martin. Have been in the studio tonight, working on a remix for a new band called "Freedom Faliure" - it's turning out really well. Going to get back on it now.

I got a tiger print tie from eBay today. And some black nail polish. I only did my left hand so far though, it looks wierd. Not sure how I feel about it. Good documentary about Malcolm Mclaren on Radio 4 right now.

> I'm DJing with PAUL OAKENFOLD in Washington DC, July 15th <

PRESS RELEASE:
-------------

John B will be playing alongside Paul Oakenfold & Sandra Collins at Buzzlife's legendary Cubik night at Nation in Washington, DC on Friday 15 July 2005. 2 of John's tracks were signed to Oakenfold's Perfecto label last year, for the Great Wall compilation, mixed by Mr Oakenfold himself - so it's nice that they finally get to play at the same event!

HeLLo all. Or few, I'm not really sure how many of you there are. One of the many things I guess I should be working out... Good morning, its 4am here, I'm about to sleep - have been up late editing and posting video footage from the last tour - the first part is up, and pretty funny, the second one is shaping up and will be up in a few days I guess...

It's my birthday 2moro - I will be 28. Yikes. Old rather. I feel younger. If that's any consolation. To me, not you. I think it's time to start saying I'm younger. I think I might be able to get away with 25. I can't even remember what I was doing at 25, and it was only a few years ago. I guess doing junglistic things.

Am having a fabulous BBQ 2moro, I hope ppl come... saturday went went well and very very well considering how spontaneous it was. Steve took some photos and put up on his new site www.transmuterecordings.com (new label linus and mattrick are doing) huzzah to that.

Today I worked on label tasks and got sunburnt a bit while making phone calls. I also bought a lot of food and wine from Waitrose. It cost 46 pounds. I got a box of dry reisling for 13.99. Not sure who's coming yet but should be nice, Steve dropped off his projector so we can play party monster or xbox or something, projected onto the garden wall - as long as chavs aren't attracted. Some chavs woke me up on Saturday morning supposidely to wash my car or do the weeding. Wish I'd been more awake to film them or something, they were blatently scoping out the place to see fi they could rob anything, or take advantage of any old grans living here. I would have been a bit upset if they thought my car was an old grannie car though. Anyway Maidenhead chavvy kidz - I've got my eyyyeee on j000.

I'm missing my ex-girlfriend loads, feeling crap still, for breaking up - everything seems to remind me about that stuff. I would have been out there with her a lot over the summer, and its just mega sad that its all over and I don't really know why. GhaYbaR.

OK, i have to go to bed, its 5am now, and dawN has broken. the stoats will be out in full force. Must slumber.

> Happy Birthday to meee <

I am 28 today. Arggg. Had a good day so far, its the hottest day of the year, mega sunny. Just been for a nice run, about to have a supercold bath, then sunbathe. Having a BBQ tonight hopefully, but haven't done a very good job of inviting people yet...

OH, updated some videos on my main website last night, have a look at:

THe Video Bit on www.john-b.com

The beginning is just me being wierd at Niagara falls etc, but then there's lots of club footage, and girls miraculously flashing me boobies everywhere. Fabulous.

Have a good day all.

> White House, Oakenfold, Boiler Rooms, Justin Timberlake, Crumpling bags <

Hello to you all. Just got back from the Aiport - did 2 gigs in the USA this weekend - flew out to Washington DC on Thursday, the day before the gig, just to acclimatise. Weather was gross, soooo hot and humid, my hair was not happy at all, but still had lots of fun. Went to the Goth party at Nation on Thursday night, the same venue I was playing at on Friday - did some patented Mr. Mendez Goth-Rose-Petal-Dispersal dancing and swayed around and did my best to look pensive and depressed and as though I just posted some poetry on my Livejournal or something... Sorry! Generalisation there... The music was amazing though, I really like what gets played at industrial/EBM/Goth clubs in the states - think there's a lot DnB would benefit from...

Anyway, slept most of Friday, was mega tired and airported-out. Wore my new (fake) Vivenne Westwood Shirt (when i woke up, obviously) - but was distressed to see it has a mini schwastica on it, although upside down - I felt embarrassed when I was in the lift in the hotel and some old lady looked at it - I think I'll have to get a red marker and cross it out or something so that people know I'm not a NaZi. Yikes. Buzz was legendary, as usual - I played for 2.5 hours - went through a whole bunch of stuff, not just the electroey stuff - oh and I got some samples from Ferris Bueller to drop in too, but I'm not sure if anyone noticed... Paul Oakenfold was playing too, and he dropped by and hung out in my booth in the DnB room for 10 minutes - (I made sure I played my new trancey DnB tunes at that point... haha!). Had a few red bull & vodkas - they make pints of them there and are very generous with the vodka! wooohar. When I finished I went to catch the end of Oakey's set and then a few of us went to his tour bus to hang out and have a couple of drinks - needed a chill after all the hyperhyper bizniz. I love buzz, but it's such a mega rush, so many people coming and talking to you and stuff, you kinda need a little break at the end in case you spak out! oh yeah - i jsut remembered - these girls came and banged on the door of the bus trying to get in - without even being asked they just spontaneously started making out and kissing each other's bum's and stuff - presumably to show their tourbus qualifications or something. i took pictures, of course. But we didn't let them in.

Flew out to Chicago on Saturday morning - had a nap and then some amazing Brazillian steak at this place where it was all you can eat, but really posh (they made me borrow DJ Simons shirt to cover up my sleevelessness) and you have this card with red on one side and green on the other - when you turn it to green these waiters jsut appear out of nowhere with big skewers of supergood meats, filet mignon, or steaks wrapped in bacon, the besssst and then they jsut carve it right onto your plate! Gorgeous. But it gave me the shits before the rave, not gorgeous...

The party in Chicago turned out ok, but it coudl have been busier - some guy was arrested with drug on him or something adn there was a big scene with him fighting the police outside the venue for like 45 minutes - during which time they didn't let anyone in, and generally gave the impression that the party had been busted or something - then apparently the club security decided to only let 21+ in, even though it was an 18+ event - so the promoters basically got messed about... not to mention a couple of things I heard about how one of the other DJs behaved... Anyway, the production/sound/lights etc were ace and the floor was rammed right at the end when I was playing, so it was fun. there were some scarey sights in there though, it was an old theatre with scarey dark corners and boiler rooms and phantomoftheopera bizniz... OH, yeah - and there was some guy in the crowd with a blown up photo of my face from one of my PR photos, and he'd made a mask out of it, and was wearing a shirt adn tie too, adn dancing wierd like a witchdoctor, a really wierd unsettling thing to see, from a distance it really just looked like I coudl see a younger version of myself dancing in the crowd. WierD i tell thee.

OH yeah, and the hotel next door had all these famous people staying there, Justin Trousersnake, Basketball players, N-Sync etc - for some kids Charity thing. There were crazed Stalker/fans waiting for them to come back still at 4am when I was getting back from the club. Interesting.

Long flight home, 8 hours. Chicago Airport INternational terminal is total wank - huge line for security, and no restaurants once you go thru to the departures area, once you realise this you can't face the prospect of waiting in line for security again so have to settle for some crappy old tuna wrap - OMG and they had NOOOO coffee shop at all. I was in pain. Anyay, watched a couple of good movies on the way back, Constantine and Hostage. The guy behind me kept on crinckling up some bag the whole time, it sounded like he was made from a plastic bag and was rolling around or something.

Got some fun video too, will post online once I've edited out the boring bits, and any non-nudity.

Oh, and here's a few pictures, more to come... Lots of Love, John
